  • 222 event tickets sold!
  • Many volunteers helped the tourney go smoothly, from setting up the tent and tables days before to take down the day after, and everything in between.
  • Mole Lake Band of Lake Superior Chippewa provided the wonderfully warm tent and several of the tournament prizes.
  • We had an excellent "filleter" from the Mole Lake Fisheries who volunteered his day to clean all the fish for frying.
  •  Thanks to the Mole Lake Tribe for their support, specifically the Mole Lake Fisheries Department and the Mole Lake Casino and Lodge.

Food and Drink

Participants

  • 99 fish were registered, 96 northern pike and 3 large mouthed bass
  • Northern pike ranged in size from 14 – 30 inches, largemouth bass from 12 – 13 inches
  • Comparing 2020 and 2022 Ice Tournament Results, the overall length and quality of northern pike in Roberts Lake are improving, evidence that the removal project is working.
  • In 2020, only 18% of northern pike caught in the tournament were >21 inches in length, in 2022, 42% of northern pike caught in tournament were >21”.  Northern pike are noticeably heavier as well.

  • Boone's Burger Stand had food and drinks available in the tent for hungry fisher people.
  • The warming tent was situated next to the Wild Rose Resort which also had plenty of food and refreshments available.
  • Caught fish were either kept by the anglers, donated for taste testing at the event, or donated to others who wanted them. No fish were wasted!
